South China Sea Expedition

This project itinerary is designed for individuals worldwide who are interested in the ocean to conduct popular science research in the South China Sea, with Shenzhen as the base. The expedition aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of marine science through a series of activities and hands-on experiments.

D1: Domestic/ Shenzhen

Participants arrive in Shenzhen and visit the Shenzhen University Marine Culture Education Base to attend the opening ceremony. The Shenzhen University Marine Culture Popular Science Education (Cruise Terminal) Base is the first large-scale marine culture popular science education base in the country. It relies on a series of research achievements in marine history, marine painting, navigation charts, and ancient ship models by the Shenzhen University Marine Art Research Center. The base is created by the Shenzhen Marine Culture Art Research Association, using the viewing corridors at the Shekou Cruise Terminal, an important marine cultural landmark in Shenzhen. Through exhibitions, lectures, training, and other methods, the base carries out social marine culture popular science activities, aiming to popularize the long-standing marine historical and cultural knowledge of China among young people and enhance their marine cultural awareness.

D2: Shenzhen South China Sea

On the second day, participants visit the cruise terminal, board the research vessel, and undergo safety training. The Shekou Cruise Terminal in Shenzhen is the largest modern international cruise terminal in China, integrating "sea, land, air, and rail" transportation. It has two Greater Bay Area cruise ships (Greater Bay Area No. 1 and Greater Bay Area No. 2) and China's first cruise ship. Participants will learn about modern port terminal facilities, container terminal equipment, sailing vessels, and navigation channels here.

D3: South China Sea

Participants conduct scientific experiments and observations in the South China Sea. Activities include CTD water sampling and marine biodiversity observation. These experiments provide valuable data for the marine environment and help understand the marine ecosystem of the region. Through these activities, participants will obtain valuable scientific data and increase their awareness of marine science and conservation.

D4: South China Sea Shenzhen

On the fourth day, participants conclude their scientific expedition in the South China Sea and return to Shenzhen. They attend a closing ceremony, receive certificates of completion, and check into a hotel. At the closing ceremony, participants will share their experiences and gains, further deepening their understanding and interest in marine science.

D5: BACK

On the fifth day, participants return by plane, concluding the project itinerary. This expedition not only enhanced the participants' knowledge of marine science but also promoted international cooperation and cultural exchange. Through their participation in the activities at the Shenzhen University Marine Culture Popular Science Education Base, the participants will return to their home country with a love for the ocean and a pursuit of science, continuing to explore and learn.
